Dr. Laura Valtere

Biography

Laura Valtere is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Bioscience Innovation Law (CeBIL) at the University of Copenhagen. Her expertise lies in patent law and regulatory frameworks, particularly in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. She has worked extensively on the role of exclusivity as an incentive tool. Laura holds a PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, where her dissertation, entitled 'Personalised Medicine - Incentives and Exclusivities Provided by IP Regulatory Law,' showcased her deep knowledge and research skills. She also earned an LL.M. in European and International Business Law in Munich, reinforcing her strong foundation in the field. Beyond her academic pursuits, Laura has served as a legal advisor to the Ministry of Justice and has held positions as a research fellow at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, where she conducted legal research on patent law and pandemic preparedness. Additionally, she has experience as an R&D specialist at the University of Luxembourg, where she engaged in innovative research on digital governance and AI regulation. Laura has also lectured at the Riga Graduate School of Law and the University of Latvia, and was a junior researcher at the Max Planck Institute where she contributed to high-impact legal research in pharmaceutical biotechnology and patent law.
