Biography

Laura Visser joined the Department of Management at Monash University in July 2017, previously working as an Assistant Professor at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands. She obtained her PhD degree, focusing broadly on issues of power and inequality within organizations. Her research interests are particularly centered on the healthcare sector, technology, and gender diversity. Currently, she is exploring sociomaterial theories and their applicability and usefulness in organizational studies, as well as the role of women in the Australian wine industry. As a Senior Lecturer, Laura teaches several courses in the undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business degrees, including units on social issues in organizing and introductory management. Additionally, she oversees the Department's Honours Program. As a co-HDR director, Laura serves on the editorial board of Organization Studies and engages in editorial responsibilities for qualitative research organizations. She is committed to advancing research aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with research activities that aim to address critical management studies, power inequality, gender and diversity, and sociomateriality.
