Biography

Laura Wheaton is a full-time physician specializing in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. She graduated from Western University School of Medicine and completed her residency in General Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa's Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Following her residency, she pursued fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Dr. Wheaton's work in pediatric hematology/oncology involves the management of both benign hematologic conditions and oncologic diagnoses. She currently is completing a Master of Science in Community Health with a focus on health practitioner teacher education at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. In her role as an educator, Dr. Wheaton is heavily involved in teaching medical students and residents across a broad spectrum of pediatric topics, including hematology and oncology, while also facilitating small group clinical skills sessions. Her research interests encompass adolescent oncology, pediatric palliative care, and medical education. Outside of her professional obligations, she enjoys reading, exploring used bookstores, running, and traveling.
