Biography

Laura Whiteley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University, where she also serves as the Director of the Brown General Psychiatry Residency. Her research expertise primarily focuses on the utilization of mobile technology to improve and enhance behavioral interventions and treatment adherence. She has secured funding from prestigious organizations including the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and the Lifespan/Tufts/Brown Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). Laura completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and earned her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. Her residency training in adult psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry were completed at Brown University, during which she also undertook a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) T32 research fellowship. In addition to her clinical and research roles, Laura is a dedicated mentor to residents and medical students, having received several accolades including the Brown Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior Research Mentorship Award and the Outstanding Clinician Award from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
