Biography

Laure de Preux is an Associate Professor at Imperial College Business School, specializing in Health Environmental Economics within the Department of Economics and Public Policy. She is affiliated with the Centre for Health Economics & Policy Innovation (CHEPI) and the Grantham Institute on Climate Change and the Environment. Laure's research interests encompass environmental health economics, which includes investigating moral hazards, healthcare demand determinants, and health economic evaluations. Additionally, her environmental economics work has focused on the influence of environmentally related managerial practices on energy usage and financial performance, as well as the impacts of environmental taxes and carbon pricing on business behaviors. Current research includes studying the climatic influences on health-related behaviors and the co-benefits of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, along with consumer willingness to pay for ethically sustainable products. Before her tenure at Imperial, Laure completed her Master’s degree at HEC Lausanne and a PhD in Economics at the University of York, supervised by Prof. Hugh Gravelle. She has received several awards, including the Erik Kempe Award for her innovative work in Environmental Resource Economics and has been recognized for her teaching excellence.
