Biography

Lauren England joined the Department of Culture, Media & Creative Industries (CMCI) at King’s College London in 2021. Her research focuses on sustainable development within creative economies, particularly within craft, design, and fashion industries in international contexts. Current research themes include the application of craft knowledge in sustainable production and the spatial dynamics of craft economies. She has received funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the British Academy. Her work is disseminated through traditional academic publications as well as creative outputs such as podcasts and short films. Lauren has expertise in the evolution of craft economies, sustainability, and creative entrepreneurship, especially as it pertains to developing economies like those in Africa. She is currently accepting PhD applications and teaches both BA and MA programs in her discipline.
