Biography

Lauren Nadler is a lecturer in Marine Biology at the University of Southampton, based at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton. Her research employs an interdisciplinary approach to understand the behavior and physiology of marine organisms and their complex interactions within underwater ecosystems. Nadler's work focuses on the links between animal behavior and the physiological mechanisms driving observed traits, striving to determine the ways physiological traits influence behavior. Throughout her career, she has integrated various technological advances from multiple biological disciplines to enhance her research methodologies. Nadler has a wealth of experience in experimental biology, which requires innovative approaches to assess animal characteristics in realistic settings. Currently, she investigates how individual physiology affects social behaviors in fish, along with the impacts of biotic and abiotic pressures such as climate change on fish behavior and physiology. Her notable research projects include studying the physiological advantages of fish schooling, linking behavioral and physiological traits to ecological outcomes.
