Biography

Dr. Lauren Hachmann Sansing is a Professor of Neurology at Yale University, where she is also the Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs. She completed her residency in Neurology in 2006 and underwent a fellowship in Vascular Neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 2006 to 2008. Her clinical interests are centered around acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and complex neurovascular diseases. Dr. Sansing has an extensive background in translational research, having earned a Master of Science in Translational Research at the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied immune mechanisms of injury following intracerebral hemorrhage. In 2010, she joined the faculty of the University of Connecticut and Hartford Hospital, actively engaging in the Departments of Neurology, Neuroscience, Neurosurgery, and Immunology. Since joining Yale in the summer of 2014, her research has continued to focus on cerebrovascular diseases and neuro-inflammation through basic, translational, and clinical studies. Dr. Sansing leads an NIH-funded laboratory that identifies immunological treatment targets for stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and vascular cognitive impairment dementia, and has received numerous national and international awards for her research contributions.
