Lauren Schneider's research currently focuses on morphosyntax of Salish languages in the Pacific Northwest. Her recent work includes a video that covers various aspects of her research. She has served as a Visiting Assistant Professor and Interim Director of the NAMA Program at the University of Arizona. Schneider’s research involves collaboration with the Hul’q’umi’num’ people on the description, analysis, and reclamation of their language. Specifically, she works with the Vancouver Island dialect of Halkomelem Salish, as well as other coastal languages in the Salish Sea region. Currently, Schneider is expanding her learning in morphosyntax across a broader range of North American Indigenous languages. She is also involved in the Workshop on American Indigenous Languages (WAIL).
