Biography

Lauren E. Siewny is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine and a board-certified Emergency Physician. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Duke University Hospital, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Siewny's clinical interests focus on Emergency Department utilization management, complex care management, and advanced health analytics. Her research, supported by the NIH, explores the use of implementation science to identify and address barriers to quality care in sickle cell disease. For the past decade, she has taught courses in medical education, including medical student and graduate medical education, and has been involved in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Her contributions to teaching and academic leadership have been recognized with multiple awards.
