Biography

Lauren Wise, Sc.D, is a Professor at Boston University School of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology. She has been a faculty member since 2004, following her doctorate from Harvard School of Public Health. Her research centers on reproductive and perinatal epidemiology, exploring benign gynecologic conditions, delayed conception, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Wise is the principal investigator of the Boston University Pregnancy Study Online (PRESTO), which studies time-to-pregnancy and birth outcomes using web-based prospective cohort studies in North America and Denmark. She is also involved in NIH-funded studies investigating the environmental and genetic determinants of uterine fibroids among African-American women, including the Study of Environment, Lifestyle, Fibroids (SELF) operating in Detroit. Her leadership in health research includes numerous NIH projects that study the impact of various factors, including endocrine disruptors and air pollution, on fertility and health outcomes. Dr. Wise has received multiple awards for her excellence in teaching and research throughout her career at Boston University.
