Dr. Laurence Beck

Biography

Laurence H. Beck, Jr. is an Associate Professor with a focus on nephrology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. His academic journey began with an MD from Harvard Medical School, followed by a PhD from Harvard University, and a BA from Princeton University. Dr. Beck completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Nephrology at Boston Medical Center, where he has been a member of the Renal Section since 2006. His research is primarily centered on the pathogenesis of membranous nephropathy, a condition linked to immune-mediated glomerular disease. He leads research projects with funding from notable institutions like the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and Pfizer, investigating the functional capacity of autoantibodies in membranous nephropathy. In addition to his research, he is an active educator and mentor for graduate students in the Boston University Graduate Medical Sciences program. Dr. Beck's contributions extend to various health sectors, including clinical roles that involve overseeing outpatient clinics and consultations for dialysis and transplant services.
