Biography

Laurent Bozec is a professor at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Since joining the University of Toronto in 2018, he has served as Vice-Dean Research at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, in England. Bozec has supervised 90 graduate students and collaborated with academic and industry partners on 75 funded projects globally. He currently sits on the Governing Council at the University of Toronto and advocates for graduate students' skill development, fairness, transparency, and equity in funded research. Additionally, he participates in university-wide Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives. His research portfolio explores the relationship between collagen's structural and biomechanical properties at the nanoscale and health-related diseases. In 2024, Bozec's MFP lab engaged in efforts for nanoscale collagen morphometry in relation to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. As a translational researcher, he has a long-standing expertise in parchment-based research and its applications in Cultural Heritage, currently developing field conservation histology to assist conservators worldwide.
