Laurent Eyer obtained his PhD in 1998 from the Geneva Observatory, Switzerland, where he worked under Michel Grenon on the analysis of variability data from Hipparcos, leading to the creation of the Hipparcos Variability Annex Light Curves. He subsequently held a postdoctoral position at the Catholic University of Leuven, focusing on the exploitation of Hipparcos discoveries concerning variable star types, particularly gamma Doradus stars. At Princeton University, he engaged in extensive analysis of surveys such as OGLE, ASAS, and SDSS, which provided him with experience in handling large data sets crucial for the Gaia mission. Currently, Laurent is the Gaia CU7 Leader at the University of Geneva, coordinating the Unit for Variability Processing and Analysis. His research interests include time domain astronomy, photometry of variable stars, and studies involving astrometry, both within the Gaia framework and other ongoing surveys. As an educator, he teaches advanced topics in stellar physics and contributes to the Gaia Data Processing Analysis Consortium. His collaborative efforts extended towards various committees and organizations, emphasizing his engagement in the wider astronomical community.
