Biography

Professor Laurie Garrow’s research focuses on the development and application of advanced travel demand models that integrate discrete choice, econometric, and market research methods to enhance understanding of travel behavior. She is a faculty member in the Schools of Aerospace and Civil Engineering, serves as Co-Director of the Center for Urban and Regional Air Mobility, and is the Director of the Air Transportation Lab at Georgia Tech. Dr. Garrow earned her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University, with an emphasis on travel demand modeling and airline passenger behavior, and her dissertation received the 2004 Eric Pas honorable mention award in the IATBR competition. A recipient of the NSF CAREER award, she was honored with the ASCE Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize for her development and integration of advanced discrete choice models for traveler behavior in airline planning and revenue management systems. Throughout her career, Dr. Garrow has advised 30 graduate students, many of whom have received prestigious fellowships and awards. She is recognized as an expert in aviation and has been quoted by multiple media outlets.
