Biography

Laurie is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Epidemiologist, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Nursing. Her research focuses on improving comfort outcomes for critically ill children and their families through robust engagement with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. She concentrates on four key areas of research: prevention and management of PICU pain, agitation, and delirium; promoting family presence and participation in care; evaluation, prevention, and management of Post-Intensive Care Syndrome in Pediatrics; and optimization of pediatric organ donation processes. Additionally, Laurie is the Director of the Alberta Children's Hospital PICU Research program, overseeing 40 observational and interventional research studies conducted both locally and internationally.
