Dr. Lavagnon Ika

Biography

Lavagnon Ika is a Full Professor in Project Management at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, where he also serves as the MSc Program Director and Founding Director of the Major Projects Observatory. He earned his MSc and PhD in Project Management from Université du Québec, a joint doctoral program with McGill, Concordia, and HEC. Over his career, Ika has held various academic positions including visiting professor at prestigious institutions such as Skema Business School in France and Swinburne Business School in Australia. He has extensive experience in teaching project management at various academic levels across multiple countries. Professor Ika's research focuses on the critical factors that lead to project success and failure, particularly in major infrastructure projects. He has authored numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and is recognized as a world leader in research on project management in global development, notably with his work funded by SSHRC and FQRSC. His contributions have been acknowledged through awards such as the IPMA Global Research Award and Telfer’s Established Researcher Award. Ika has been a proactive member of various academic boards and committees, contributing to the advancement of his field.
