Dr. Lawrence Alexander

Biography

Lawrence Alexander is the Warren Distinguished Professor of Law, Emeritus at the University of San Diego. He earned his LLB in 1968 from Yale University and his BA in 1965 from Williams College. His areas of expertise include Religious Freedom, Separation of Church and State, Jurisprudence Legal Theory, Federal Courts, Constitutional Interpretation, and various aspects of Constitutional Law, including Constitutional Rights and Criminal Procedure. Alexander has been a member of the California Bar since 1968 and joined the faculty of the USD School of Law in 1970. He has taught and written extensively on topics related to constitutional law and criminal law. His extensive professional experience includes service on the editorial boards of journals such as Law & Philosophy, Ethics, and Criminal Law Philosophy. Additionally, he served as the Co-Executive Director of the Institute for Law & Religion and co-editor of the international quarterly, Legal Theory.
