Biography

Lawrence Jacobs is a Lecturer at Columbia Law School and a managing attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell, where he serves as the firm's litigation counsel director. He has authored the article 'Ex Parte Information Appellate Review Capital Sentences,' published in the 60 N.Y.U. Law Review in 1985. Prior to joining Davis Polk in 1997, Jacobs was a litigator at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison and Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel. He also clerked for the Honorable Phyllis Kravitch at the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals during the 1985-1986 term. Jacobs earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was a Baer Memorial Scholar and senior articles editor for the New York University Law Review. He completed his undergraduate degree at Bennington College in 1978.
