Biography

Lawrence (Chit-Fung) Lam is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford's Faculty of Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics. He has previously served as an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester in the Department of Linguistics and English Language. His research interests lie in the areas of Syntax, Semantics, and Grammatical Architecture, with a prominent focus on Mandarin Chinese. He is particularly noted for his empirical-oriented approaches to language, engaging in systematic hypothesis testing. Lam's work encompasses a variety of innovative topics such as finiteness phenomena in Mandarin Chinese complementation structures, copy control, and language dominance in bilingual contexts.
