Biography

Dr. Layla Gould is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Neurosurgery, Department of Surgery, at the University of Saskatchewan. She completed her PhD in Cognition Neuroscience at the same university, where she focused on utilizing neuroimaging to investigate the neural and cognitive mechanisms related to speech and language in both health and disease contexts. Dr. Gould has undergone extensive post-doctoral training, with fellowships in the Division of Neurosurgery and the College of Kinesiology. Her research interests include clinical neurophysiology, particularly as it pertains to understanding the brain's recovery processes following stroke. Dr. Gould is also the leader of the Presurgical Neuroimaging Program at Royal University Hospital, employing functional MRI tractography to assist in the planning of neurosurgical interventions. Additionally, she serves as a clinical neurophysiologist with responsibilities in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring.
