Dr. Lea Ypi

Biography

Lea Ypi is a prominent figure in the fields of Political Philosophy and History, serving as the Ralph Miliband Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. An Albanian native, she holds degrees in Philosophy and Literature from the University of Rome La Sapienza, and a PhD from the European University Institute. Ypi's notable contributions to academia include significant publications such as 'Indignity: Life Reimagined,' and 'Free: Coming of Age at the End of History,' as well as co-authoring 'Global Justice: A Political Agenda' with Jonathan White. With a career marked by extensive translation of her works into over thirty-five languages, she has earned numerous accolades, including the Royal Society Literature Ondaatje Prize, and the British Academy Prize for Excellence in Political Science. In addition, Ypi is a permanent fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and holds the title of Honorary Professor at the Australian National University. She also co-edits the journal 'Political Philosophy' and writes for the Financial Guardian, with research interests that include Marxism, Critical Theory, and the history of European literature.
