Professor Dr. Leah Ferguson

Biography

Leah Ferguson is a Professor in the College of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan. She holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology and has a strong focus on Sport Psychology and Indigenous Wellness. Her research areas include the well-being of Indigenous athletes and the role of self-compassion in sports. Throughout her academic career, she has been involved in several significant research funding projects that aim to support Indigenous youth and enhance knowledge mobilization in community connections. Ferguson is actively engaged in mentoring prospective graduate students and encourages those interested in sport psychology and Indigenous wellness to reach out for guidance. She is a professional member of multiple organizations, including the Canadian Sport Psychology Association. Ferguson teaches various courses related to Kinesiology and has a proven publication record in her field, contributing to both practical and theoretical aspects of sport psychology.
