Leah Levi is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego. She obtained her MBBS from the University of Sydney in 1978 and completed her internship at Sydney Hospital in 1981. Levi went on to pursue a Pre-Residency Glaucoma Research Fellowship at Tufts-New England Eye Center in 1983, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital, from which she graduated in 1986. Throughout her career, Dr. Levi has been recognized for her contributions to the field, receiving several accolades including the Thomas J. Carlow Distinguished Service Award from the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society in 2022 and numerous Top Doctor awards by her peers in the San Diego County Medical Society and Castle Connolly. Dr. Levi was also President of the NANOS from 2012 to 2014 and served in various leadership roles throughout her career, including as the Residency Program Director for Ophthalmology. After leaving UCSD in 2013, she became the Director of Neuro-Ophthalmology at Scripps Clinic, a position she held until her retirement in 2023.
