Biography

Leandro Maio begins his academic career after obtaining a doctorate in Aerospace Engineering. He won a research grant from the Department of Technologies at Parthenope University of Naples and also received a scholarship from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Università degli Studi di Napoli "Federico II" where he completed his PhD. His academic journey includes a post-doctoral fellowship and attaining the Italian National Scientific Habilitation as an Associate Professor in Aeronautical Aerospace Engineering, followed by the position of Full Professor. Currently a Lecturer in Polymer Composites at the University of Manchester, Maio coordinates the Structural Health Monitoring and Non-Destructive Testing laboratory and teaches courses on Deformation Mechanisms and Advanced Composites. He has been awarded multiple scholarships which have allowed him to teach PhD students abroad and has held visiting researcher positions at several renowned institutions including University College London and Goethe University of Frankfurt. He actively contributes to various research projects, partnerships, and international scientific events.
