Dr. Leanne Leclair

Biography

Leanne Leclair is an associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Manitoba. Her professional journey includes diverse experiences as an occupational therapist across regions in Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. Throughout her career, she has undertaken various roles, providing care to individuals in inpatient and outpatient settings, including adult mental health, adult acute care, pediatric outpatient care, and community-based private practice. Dr. Leclair's dedication to teaching and research supervision is evident in her mentorship of 50 graduate students. Her research efforts focus on applied community-engaged approaches aimed at enhancing programs and services that serve the community. In addition to her academic contributions, Dr. Leclair has assumed leadership roles demonstrating her commitment to the field, including serving as head of the Department of Occupational Therapy and president of the Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy University Programs, which reflects her dedication to advancing occupational therapy education nationally. She plays a crucial role as chair of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists Certification Exam Committee, showcasing her involvement in upholding professional standards.
