Dr. Lee Kahlor

Biography

Lee Ann Kahlor is a Professor at the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations, part of the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Relations with a focus on health environmental risk communication and science communication. Kahlor's research primarily centers on mass communication and complex science information seeking, particularly the challenges that scientists face when communicating research on indoor environmental microbiology. She teaches courses on science communication and environmental communication, emphasizing the construction of environmental campaigns. Kahlor's scholarly work has been published in reputable journals such as Science Communication, Risk Analysis, and Media Psychology, among others. Additionally, she has co-edited a book titled 'Communicating Science: New Agendas in Communication' and has received several accolades for her research from organizations like the International Communication Association and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. Before her academic career, Kahlor worked as a reporter for the Milwaukee Sentinel and held various roles in corporate communications.
