Biography

Dr. Lee R. Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University. His research focuses on understanding and manipulating the structure, dynamics, and interactions of highly symmetric molecules to explore individual quantum states and open new possibilities in quantum science. Traditional approaches, such as microwave and infrared spectroscopy, have limitations due to restrictive selection rules, especially for high-symmetry molecules. Dr. Liu develops non-linear optical techniques with high sensitivity and resolution to access the entire molecular state space, which can be applied in quantum information processing and local field sensing within condensed phases. He earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto in 2012, followed by a PhD in Physics from Harvard University in 2019. He is currently a postdoctoral research associate at JILA/CU Boulder, scheduled to complete in 2024.
