Dr. Leigh Evans

Biography

Leigh Evans, MD, is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Section Chief of Medical Simulation at the Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Executive Director of the Yale Center for Healthcare Simulation, overseeing simulation activities for the school and the Yale New Haven Health System. Dr. Evans has received multiple awards for his teaching excellence, including the Yale School of Medicine Bohmfalk Teaching Prize and the Alvan R. Feinstein Award. His research interests focus on the transfer of clinical skills taught in simulation laboratories to the clinical setting, particularly the performance of central venous catheter insertions by resident physicians. Dr. Evans is also involved in community outreach through the Yale Simulation Academy, which provides high school students from underrepresented backgrounds with hands-on STEM education related to healthcare careers. He has served as Principal Investigator on several grants aimed at improving patient safety through simulation training, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
