Leigh Romero, M.D., CAQSM, is a Clinical Associate Professor and Program Director for the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Dell Medical School. He is also a Courtesy Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Romero trained at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he earned his medical degree and completed his residency in Family & Community Medicine. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System. Since joining the Family & Community Medicine Residency faculty in 2011, Dr. Romero has held dual appointments in family medicine and orthopedics. In 2018, he transitioned to Dell Medical School, where he created the Sports Medicine Distinction Track within the Family Medicine Residency in 2020 and established the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship in 2021, serving as its program director. Dr. Romero is dedicated to advancing person-centered integrated care to enhance the health of individuals in Central Texas.
