Biography

Leigh Ellen received her PhD from York University’s Schulich School of Business and is an Assistant Professor in Accounting at the Telfer School of Management. Her research focuses on accounting, financial communications, and the public sector, with particular emphasis on open government and open data initiatives. Leigh Ellen holds dual Master's degrees in Public Administration from the London School of Economics and the Paris Institute of Political Studies. Before returning to academia, she practiced as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) for ten years, both in Canada and abroad. She has taught a variety of accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and has delivered training to international accounting staff at organizations such as the European Commission and NATO.
