Biography

Leila Alinaghian is an Associate Professor and Director of Postgraduate Programmes at the UCL School of Management. She has been recognized for her excellence in educational leadership, teaching, and scholarship impact. Over the past decade, she has delivered strategic growth and academic innovation, consistently achieving outstanding student experience outcomes in postgraduate education. Her research advances the understanding of business relationships and networks, particularly focusing on the role of sustainability and social impact. Leila has published her work in world-leading journals and has collaborated with corporates, social enterprises, and professional bodies to advance the social-procurement agenda in the UK and internationally. She has supervised doctoral students and developed thought leadership, frequently speaking at various forums. Before joining UCL, she was at Cranfield School of Management, where she served as Director of MBA and MiM programmes, leading substantial programme transformations that resulted in measurable gains in student satisfaction and global rankings. Furthermore, she was part of the strategy team at the University of Cambridge's Centre for International Manufacturing, contributing to case-based research that supported EPSRC Centres for Innovative Manufacturing. She founded and led the Research Capability Development programme at the Institute of Manufacturing in Cambridge. Leila holds an MPhil and PhD in Engineering, Manufacturing Management from the University of Cambridge, where she was a Cambridge Trust Scholar, and her research has been nominated for PhD paper awards by the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society.
