Biography

Leila Mostaço-Guidolin, Ph.D., P.Eng., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University. She holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Manitoba. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on integrating advanced imaging techniques, tissue engineering, and machine learning to investigate extracellular matrix remodeling in chronic lung diseases such as fibrosis. A recipient of several awards for her research and teaching achievements, she notably holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Imaging Biomaterials Characterization. Her expertise lies in advanced optical imaging, label-free microscopy, spectroscopy, and 3D bioprinting related to biomedical research and the development of engineered tissues for imaging and therapeutic applications.
