Biography

Leila Ullrich is an Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of Oxford and a Fellow at Worcester College. She works at the intersection of international criminal justice, transitional justice, victimology, border criminology, and counterterrorism. Her research interests lie in how global criminal justice institutions produce gendered and racialized subjects, focusing on victims, refugees, and marginalized communities in contexts such as Kenya, Uganda, Lebanon, and the UK. Leila employs feminist, decolonial, and critical political economy theories in her work. Her forthcoming book, 'Victims and the Labour of Justice at the International Criminal Court: The Blame Cascade,' will be published in 2024. In 2025, she is set to receive a Leverhulme Research Fellowship for a project titled 'The Labour of Prevention: Global Counterterrorism and the Gender Participation Agenda.' She has also served as a social stability analyst for the Syrian refugee crisis with the UN Development Programme in Lebanon. Additionally, Leila is the coordinating editor for Feminist Legal Studies and actively participates in various academic networks and editorial boards.
