Dr. Lena Sweeney

Biography

Dr. Lena Sweeney specializes in maternal-fetal medicine and clinical genetics/genomics. She provides care for individuals with high-risk pregnancies and manages the complexities of genetic conditions in both children and adults. Dr. Sweeney graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Stanford University, where she was honored with Phi Beta Kappa recognition. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, San Francisco, where she received Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Following her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale New Haven Hospital, she completed a dual fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine and clinical genetics/genomics at Yale. Her clinical research interests focus on stillbirth, pregnancy loss, disparities in fetal development, and congenital abnormalities. Dr. Sweeney is dedicated to helping families navigate the latest research and technologies, including advanced ultrasound and genetic testing. She is an advocate for equitable access to reproductive resources and enjoys educating future healthcare professionals as an instructor at the Yale School of Medicine.
