Dr. Lenhard Ng

Biography

Lenhard Lee Ng serves as a professor of mathematics at Duke University, focusing his research on symplectic topology and low-dimensional topology. His work is particularly centered on the study of symplectic contact geometry, including Weinstein manifolds, contact manifolds, and Legendrian transverse knots. He employs holomorphic-curve techniques to extract topological information from knots and cotangent bundles, and also explores the connections with topological string theory. Ng has contributed to Heegaard Floer theory and quantum topology, showcasing his diverse expertise in these complex areas of mathematics. Alongside his teaching duties, he has been actively involved in noteworthy research projects funded by the National Science Foundation, addressing topics such as enhanced invariants of Legendrian links and holomorphic invariants of knots and contact manifolds.
