Biography

Leny de Groot-van Leeuwen obtained her doctorate in 1991 with a thesis entitled "The Judiciary Netherlands; Composition Views Bench Prosecution." Her research focuses on legal ethics, the judiciary, mechanisms of checking judges, the composition of the judiciary, judicial interference in legislation, and citizens' trust in the justice system. She has been involved in supervising research projects in these areas and has participated in various academic and professional committees. Notably, she has been a contributor to the journal "Tijdschrift voor Klachtrecht" since January 2004 and has served as the Chair of the Advisory Board for "Recht der Werkelijkheid" since January 2007. She is also a member of the Regional Committee for Appeals and Objections of the Protestant Churches in the Netherlands and has been involved in the advisory board on Legal Ethics. Furthermore, she is part of the guiding committee for the history of the Ministry of Justice, part IV.
