Dr. Lennart Bunch

Biography

Lennart Bunch is a Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen. His expertise lies in organic and medicinal chemistry, where he has dedicated his academic career to researching novel ligands for glutamate receptors, a crucial area in central nervous system studies. With a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from DTU and a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Florida State University, he went on to complete his PhD in Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen. Bunch has held various academic positions including Assistant Professor and Associate Professor before becoming a full Professor. His impressive track record includes leadership roles, such as Head of the Medicinal Chemistry Section and Leader at the Center for Medicinal Chemistry. Bunch's passionate advocacy for organic chemistry and drug design is evident, and he is committed to contributing to the academic community through teaching and research. His research group focuses on the development of new methodologies that are relevant to medicinal chemistry, which can illuminate the mechanisms of CNS diseases.
