Biography

Lennart Josefson is a Full Professor in Material Computational Mechanics at Chalmers University. His main research areas include computational welding mechanics and the fatigue of welded structures. He has served on technical committees for the International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress (ISSC) for over 30 years, with a tenure as chairman of the Materials Fabrication Technology Committee from 2015 to 2022. Additionally, he has led the Swedish Welding Commission's working group on Rail Welding for two decades, from 2003 to 2023. As a respected figure in his field, he currently acts as a principal reviewer for the Journal of Welding World. Professor Josefson is also involved in teaching Mechanics and Thermodynamics at the foundation level and fatigue of welded structures at the Master’s level.
