Biography

Professor Teng researches theoretical observational seismology, earth’s strong ground motion earthquake prediction, and tectonic mapping using seismological data. He studies new techniques in seismic tomography and advanced seismic instrumentation. Currently, he is investigating microearthquakes in waterflooding oil fields and the Newport-Inglewood faults, contributing to the Los Angeles Long Beach Seismic monitoring system. His current projects include seismic research techniques in Taiwan, employing a surface wave approach to understand the crustal structure in mainland China, as well as research on earthquake prediction and control in the Los Angeles Basin area.
