Dr. Leonard Register

Biography

Leonard F. Register is a Professor and holds the J. H. Herring Centennial Professorship in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical, Computer Engineering, and Physics, followed by a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University. Professor Register has been a part of the Computational Electronics Group at the University of Illinois' Beckman Institute as a research scientist, focusing on theoretical research in diverse areas such as quantum transport, high-energy transport, single electronics, laser theory, and device reliability. He joined the faculty at The University of Texas at Austin in the spring of 2000, contributing to the Microelectronics Research Center and teaching semiconductor device physics courses. His research emphasizes quantum transport effects in sub-50 nm non-classical CMOS technologies. His work involves exploring non-traditional materials and structures as well as compact modeling for device processes.
