Biography

Leonard Rotman is a Professor in the Department of Law Business at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University, where he has been a faculty member since August 2020. He previously held the Purdy Crawford Chair in Business Law at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, from 2012 to 2020. Professor Rotman has an extensive academic career, having served as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Alberta, and became a Full Professor at the University of Windsor after joining in 1998. His research focuses predominantly on Corporate Law, Theory, and Governance, along with significant contributions to Aboriginal Law, Constitutional Law, Equity, Trusts, and Remedies. Professor Rotman has published five books and around 130 essays and chapters that address various legal topics, including his well-known works in Fiduciary Law and Aboriginal Legal Issues. He has served as a Visiting Professor at multiple esteemed law schools, including Washington Lee University and the University of Denver. In addition, his work has been recognized and cited by various judicial bodies, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Leonard's teaching includes courses on Business Law and the Legal Foundations of Corporate Governance.
