Biography

Leonard Stark is an Adjunct Professor at Penn Carey Law and serves as a United States District Judge. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Economics, as well as a Master of Arts in European History. Stark completed his D.Phil. in British Politics at Magdalen College, University of Oxford, and obtained his J.D. from Yale Law School. He began his legal career by clerking for the Honorable Walter K. Stapleton on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Following his clerkship, Stark worked as a litigation associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Wilmington, Delaware. He then served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Delaware before being appointed as a federal magistrate judge in 2007. In 2010, he was nominated by President Obama as a District Judge for the District of Delaware, following Senate confirmation. Stark became the Chief Judge on July 1, 2014.
