Leonard Susskind is the Felix Bloch Professor of Theoretical Physics at Stanford University. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Cornell University in 1965 and a B.S. in Physics from City College of New York in 1962. A prominent figure in the field of physics, his research interests span string theory, quantum field theory, quantum statistical mechanics, and quantum cosmology. Susskind is a member of the National Academy of Sciences in the USA and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, he serves as an associate member of the faculty at Canada's Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and is a distinguished professor at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study. He is widely regarded as one of the fathers of string theory, alongside Yoichiro Nambu and Holger Bech Nielsen, who independently introduced the concept of the states of particles as excitations of relativistic strings. Notably, he introduced the idea of the string theory landscape in 2003.
