Biography

Leonidas Barbopoulos is a Professor of Finance at the University of Edinburgh Business School and currently serves as the Head of the Group in Accounting & Finance. He joined the University of Edinburgh in 2019 after previously holding the position of Associate Professor (Reader) of Finance at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. His prior experience includes an Assistant Professorship in Financial Economics at the School of Economics and Finance at the University of St Andrews, as well as visiting professorships at various leading international institutions, including NYU Leonard N. Stern School of Business, Harvard Business School, and Trinity College Dublin. Leonidas’ research primarily focuses on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, empirical asset pricing, and market microstructure. He also maintains active interests in behavioral finance, climate finance, household finance, and monetary policy. His work has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Southwestern Finance Association Paper Award and the Yuki Arai Faculty Research Prize from NYU Stern. He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and serves as an Associate Editor for the International Review of Financial Analysis.
