Biography

Leonie Tanczer is an Associate Professor at University College London, specializing in International Security and Emerging Technologies. She is also a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, focusing on the intersection of technology, cybersecurity, and gender issues. Prior to her current role, Dr. Tanczer served as a Lecturer in the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Public Policy (STEAPP) at UCL and was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the EPSRC-funded PETRAS Internet of Things (IoT) Research Hub. Her research contributes to understanding the standards, governance, and policy aspects of emerging technologies. Dr. Tanczer completed her PhD at Queen's University Belfast in a project that spanned social sciences and engineering, particularly exploring (in)securitization, hacking, and hacktivism. She holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Vienna and the University of Limerick, and a Master's in Political Psychology from Queen's University Belfast. Dr. Tanczer is also skilled in peer reviewing in German and has a strong commitment to advancing gender equality and justice through her research.
