Biography

Leor Barack is a theoretical physicist specializing in classical gravity and relativistic astrophysics. His research primarily focuses on gravitational waves and the back-reaction of strongly-gravitating systems involving black holes. Leor's work is influential in modeling sources for current and planned gravitational-wave detectors. He received his PhD in Physics from the Technion in Israel in 2000 and subsequently held positions as a Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Golm, Germany, followed by a senior postdoctoral fellowship at NASA's center for gravitational-wave astronomy in Brownsville, Texas. Leor was appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Southampton in 2004 and became a Professor of Mathematical Physics in 2012. He has held an ERC grant from 2012 to 2017 and continues to make significant contributions to the field.
