Biography

Lesley Cohen is a prominent academic involved in research within the field of Solid State Physics. Her research interests encompass the study of magnetic materials applicable to solid state magnetic cooling, particularly utilizing magnetocalorics and barocalorics. She also focuses on highly spin-polarized magnetic materials relevant to spintronics and investigates long-range spin triplet superconductivity, as well as antiferromagnetic nitride thin films. Additionally, her work delves into the transport properties of high mobility materials, including narrow gap semiconductors and graphene. A significant part of her studies pertains to superconductors, specifically regarding gap structure and vortex pinning, alongside Raman spectroscopy, which she employs as a tool to better understand Fuel Cell materials. With over 450 journal publications and an h-index of 51, Cohen maintains strong collaborations with various UK universities and international research groups, particularly in Europe, the USA, Brazil, and India. She currently supervises several PhD students and has held several esteemed positions, including Editor-in-Chief of Applied Physics Letters and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at the SB Quantum Matter Institute in Vancouver.
