Biography

Lesley Wiseman-Orr is a Research Fellow at the School of Education at the University of Glasgow. She began her career in educational publishing after earning a degree in Zoology at the University of Glasgow. With over 20 years of experience, Lesley has worked as an editor and project manager at various publishing houses in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London, focusing on educational publications for primary and secondary schools in the UK and abroad. She has served as a dissertation supervisor and assessor for postgraduate students at the University of Stirling. She returned to the University of Glasgow to pursue research at the post-graduate and post-doctoral levels, developing and testing novel instruments to measure the quality of life of companion farmed animals. In 2013, Lesley co-founded a company, NewMetrica, aimed at generating funding for her research. Additionally, she has been involved with the Scottish Qualifications Authority since 2011, specializing in vocational qualifications and contributing to the development of valid and reliable assessments for new National Qualifications. Lesley is also a member of the University of Glasgow Educational Assessment Network and has participated in international educational assessment initiatives. Her research interests lie in measurement and assessment, focusing on the development of high-quality instruments and methodologies for effective assessment practices.
