Biography

Leslie Bostrom is a Professor Emerita in the Department of Visual Art at Brown University. Her artistic practice focuses primarily on painting, printmaking, and drawing. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maine and her Master of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. Bostrom's current work is characterized by anti-landscapes that incorporate industrial elements, reflecting her interest in the serendipitous relationships between human and nonhuman interactions. She is currently working on a series of large paintings titled 'Monster Flowers.' Bostrom’s previous projects include the 'Bird Disaster Series,' showcasing more poetic planning in her creative process. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards and grants, including the Soloman Grant from Brown University and multiple fellowships from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. In addition to her artistic work, she has contributed to academia, teaching multiple courses including GNSS 2010O - Color and VISA 1320 - Painting II.
